3. What are the "Four Olds"? Provide some examples of each and why they need to be destroyed. What does "prosperity" mean? Why is this considered a thought?

The Four Olds are- Old culture, Old ideas, Old habits, Old customs. (P.21)

Old habits- being named after something(p.1).
Old ideas- that umbrella is Yang-san(p.3237).
Old culture- destroying old signs because they are old(p.20-27).
Old customs- wearing pants with a narrow bottom(p.32-33).

Four Olds need to be destroyed because: China would become a strong socialist country if the four olds are destroyed. (Glossary and pg 21)

Prosperity: Prosperity means to be successful, dominating in the world and wealthy. In this book (page 21) there is a market called The Great Prosperity Market and the sign had to be destroyed because the word prosperity was in it. Mao says “that if you are prosperous, than you are bourgeois”.

THE FLEX DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. What do you think the level of safety is here? What makes you think this?

I think The Garment Factory has a very safe area because they are in a place were there are people don't often go plus they had very strong and very intelligent gate keepers. I got to know this when we came the gate keeper asked me which school I was from and when I said "American International School of Dhaka" then they understood I was from the school. Though I was feeling a little unsafe because they always took me to a place where nobody was their but I refused to go with them because I felt a little uncomfortable. I think there was a lot of space in the room where the clothes are made in and where machines are kept and, there is a lot of space for people to walk around without touching their equipment(s). In the Up2Date Apparels had a little less space than the factory, but it was more organized than the factory because their thinking was higher than the factory people. This doesn’t mean that they weren’t that smart. It means that they were experts at their jobs but they weren’t educated for that work. Though let me come back to the topic about safety. The Up2Date Apparels weren’t that safe because there weren’t many people for gate keeping. The place was very small, but they did not have machines because they are not applicable in an Import-Export job. Thus, they do have some people who make some samples for their customers. Well, this is what I think that half of our trip was safe and half was unsafe.

2 observations I made are I noticed people wearing masks and wearing caps for their safety from dust and germs floating in the air.
Another observation I made was that they used very complicated machines, so that would be a little unsafe.

2 question I had was:
How much money do these people get in 1 month?
&
How far are their houses from the factory or the Up2date Apparels.
